History:
Emmanuel College: 'Learning to know, to do, to live together, to be in Christ'.
In the 1960s St Paul’s College, Altona North, was established by the Marianist Order. It was inspired by the vision of their founder, Blessed Joseph Chaminade, that through education people would discover their part in God’s family and understand the message of human dignity and Christ’s saving love.
In 2006 Emmanuel College was established. Emmanuel – ‘God with us’ – is one of the prophetic names assigned to Jesus. Jesus is the centre and source of the life and works of Emmanuel College.
The college motto – Life to the full – is from John’s Gospel – ‘I have come that they may have life and have it to the full’ (John 10:10).
Description:
Emmanuel College comprises St Paul’s campus in Altona North and the co-educational Notre Dame campus at Point Cook. The development of the Point Cook campus is supported by the inspiring tradition, powerful resources and strong community links of the existing campus.
Parents are offered the choice between single-sex education and co-education within an innovative teaching and learning and curriculum program operating on both campuses.
This Catholic education of the young people of the College is a partnership with parents based on four pillars of learning: to know, to do, to live together, to be, in Christ.
Features:
At Emmanuel College students experience a broad curriculum in their junior years, followed by selected subjects in their senior studies, in preparation for post-secondary options of university, TAFE, apprenticeships or entry to the workforce.
Students at Emmanuel College are safe and secure and experience a sense of pride, joy and belonging. They learn to appreciate their gifts, rich diversity and interdependence.
Emmanuel College strives for the full development of the whole person: academic, physical, emotional, social and spiritual so that the students in our care become young people with a strong sense of self-worth able to respond fully to the Gospel call to love self and others, and to live full and rewarding lives.
