History:
John Paul College was founded in 1979 as a result of a merger of two previously established schools: Stella Maris Girls鈥� College (1968) and Marianist Boys鈥� College (1973). The establishment of John Paul College was supported through a bequest from OJ Olsen secured by Fr Joseph Kealy, former parish priest of St Francis Xavier鈥檚, Frankston.
Description:
John Paul College is a coeducational Years 7鈥�12 school with a broad curriculum serving five parishes in the Frankston district. Emphasis is on open entry at Year 7, including provision of assistance to students with individual learning needs. There is a well-established tradition of ensuring pathways for all students, including university entrance, TAFE programs and work-based training programs. While the school gives priority in enrolment to Catholic children from the regional parishes, a number of places are made available to children from other Catholic parishes and to children from other Christian faith traditions.

John Paul College has a strongly developed pastoral and community environment, based on a vertical pastoral care system, which encourages student leadership. Students have opportunities to be involved in peer mediation and support programs.
Set amid spacious, well-maintained grounds and gardens, John Paul College has specialist facilities which enhance the learning environment. These include a chapel, a resource centre, a gymnasium/health centre, laboratories, sophisticated information technology facilities, visual and performing arts studios, a technology centre and flexible learning spaces.
