Role Description/Criteria
The Santa Monica Experience is a 4-week program that sees our students commute from Essendon to The Surf Coast each week. Outdoor activities include Surfing, Bushwalking, Mountain Biking, Canoeing and Service Learning. The position is a full time Education Support role, one year fixed term contract Ìýor casual positions available commencing 2025 Academic Year.
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Working in a team of Outdoor Educators to deliver a challenging, engaging and meaningful program;
- Provide instruction on and participate in activities such as Surfing, Mountain Biking, Canoeing and Bushwalking;
- Educate, supervise, engage and ensure the safety of the Santa Monica Community;
- Support student’s wellbeing, educational and pastoral needs;
- Encourage and assist student participation in outdoor recreation experiences;
- Support and implement College regulations/policies/procedures/practices; and
The candidate can commute weekly with the students to and from Essendon or be based on the Surf Coast.
Applicants for the position must hold;
- A Qualification in Outdoor Recreation or Education (Certificate IV level or higher);
- Wilderness or Remote First Aid;
- Working with Children Check
- VIT or National Police Records Check
Applicants with the following will be highly regarded
- Community Surf Bronze Award/Surf Rescue Certificate
- Surfing Australia 'Foundation Coach' Certificate;
- Canoeing Flat Water Instructor
- Light Rigid Bus Licence
- Hiking and Mountain Biking experience
This role is classified under the Victorian Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 (CEMEA) as Education Support, Category B, Level 2.
