Padua students bring comfort to emergency room patients
29 October 2018
By Gus Gordan, Year 12 student, , Mornington, and Project Manager:
This year as part of our Senior VCAL Program our class participated in a project to give back to our community, which we named ‘Comfort Kits’.
We decided to donate these kits to Frankston Hospital Emergency Department as we felt they would be beneficial to patients during a difficult and stressful time, and bring a little comfort to them.
Throughout the year our class held several fundraisers to raise enough money to complete our project.
Finally, our Kits came together which consisted of items such as toothbrushes, combs, socks, toothpaste and other essential items, to bring some comfort to the patients.
On Thursday 11 October we finally had the privilege to meet with the staff at Frankston Hospital Emergency Department and hand over 200 Comfort Kits. During our time there we were also fortunate to be given the opportunity to hand some of our Kits out to some very grateful patients.
I would like to thank our class teacher Ms Arrowsmith for all of her help, support and hard work in making this possible, to Mrs Clarke for helping purchase and pick up stock and Ms McFarlane and Lyndon Savio for printing off logos for the packs and boxes.
Finally, to all the students involved, you should all be very proud of what we have achieved as a class for our local community.
