Sunrise at St Peter Julian Eymard
2 February 2017
What an exciting way to launch a new school year! The 5.30 am start didn't deter the number of participants for Channel 7’s Sunrise program filming at in Mooroolbark this morning.
They started with 20 keen students and finished the morning at 8.30 am with around 300 students and parents filming before their first day back at school.
‘We just need to let our prep students know that not every day starts with this sort of fanfare,’ said Principal Maria Bast.
Performing Arts Teacher, Jacky Casey said it was ‘a fantastic way to showcase some of the wonderful things that happen at SPJE. I was so proud of the way the choir performed’.
The students were very excited about their time in front of the cameras, ‘It was very tiring but by the same token it was fun to show my poster and get my face on the television,’ said Georgie Brisbane in Grade 5/6.
Liam Furey also in Grade 5/6 said, ‘The Sunrise experience was amazing. It was a good way to start the year and every child enjoyed having some time in the spotlight.’
