Students from Aquinas College, Ringwood, have been working to educate younger students about wildlife conservation and why it’s so important.

A group of Year 10 students from the college’s Environment class were invited to present their work at Zoos Victoria’s Fighting Extinction Schools Showcase at Melbourne Zoo, where they received positive feedback from zoo staff and visitors.

‘We showcased our recent board game project, which aimed to teach people about the very real threats of extinction’, said Maria and Kiah.

Lachlan and Nick explained, ‘We also presented our work, Life the Wrong Way Up, a picture storybook about conserving grey-headed flying foxes, which teaches children about the species and why it’s important to conserve them’.

Apart from presenting, the students had an opportunity to engage with other schools’ presentations and be inspired by their projects. ‘It was an amazing experience to see what everyone else is doing to fight extinction, and to learn more about what we can do to help our wildlife and environment’, said Ruby and Freya.

Other Melbourne 蜜桃视频 Catholic Schools (蜜桃视频) schools that presented at the showcase include St Joseph’s School, Springvale, and St Pius X School, Heidelberg West.

The Fighting Extinction Schools Showcase was held on 15 November and was part of the Fighting Extinction Schools program. For more information, visit the website.
