29 November 2024

The efforts and achievements of our school leaders were acknowledged at the 2024 Annual Archdiocesan Celebration of Principalship.

Beginning with Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral, celebrated by Most Rev Anthony J Ireland, and followed by dinner at the Park Hyatt Hotel, the event is a way to bring together the leaders of Melbourne’s Catholic schools, and recognise their commitment to the educational and spiritual growth of students in our schools.

‘We recognise the longstanding service and contribution of principals, and the servant leadership that you each commit to – for leading your staff rooms, for inspiring your students, for enriching your parish communities and for forming lives to enrich the world.’

The night also paid tribute to two colleagues who passed away in 2024 and thanked them for their significant dedication to Catholic education:

Noelene Hussy, outgoing principal of St Anne’s School, Sunbury, delivered an address on behalf of all leaving principals. ‘As we all know, being a principal today is complex and challenging, yet an incredibly rewarding and joyful journey filled with countless moments of triumph and growth – not just for our students and staff, but for us as individuals’, said Noelene.

‘I would like to thank all of our principal colleagues … [for] the work we have done together, the friendships we have made, and the visions we have had to ensure our Catholic schools have and will continue to provide the best education possible.’
