The community at , Carrum Downs, celebrated the opening of new facilities to transform the learning experience for students, teachers and families.
Guests including the Hon Sonya Kilkenny, Minister for Planning, Minister for the Suburbs and Member for Carrum, and Dr Edward Simons, Executive Director of Melbourne ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Catholic Schools (ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ), along with principals from neighbouring Catholic primary and secondary schools, were on hand to mark the special occasion. Auxiliary Bishop for the Southern Region, Most Rev Anthony J Ireland, blessed the spaces, ready for students and teachers to make the most of all the learning opportunities available to them.
‘These spaces are about you, our students, to support your learning and wellbeing’, said Principal Paul Dwyer. ‘You are the most important people here.’
The building program includes a new foyer, administration spaces, amenities, meeting spaces, and a new outdoor learning area outside the refurbished classrooms for the visual arts and Italian. The front of the school has been adorned by a new cross facing the street. ‘The new cross on the front of the building is a strong statement about who we are as a Catholic community and a Catholic school’, said Paul.
