United by water
6 November 2023
Students from Catholic schools in the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ of Melbourne have taken home the spoils as part of a poster competition recognising the importance of water.
To celebrate National Water Week 2023, Greater Western Water’s poster competition invited kindergarten, early learning and primary school students to respond to the theme ‘united by water’. Over 800 entries were received, with employees of Greater Western Water taking on the daunting task of selecting winners in each category. Winning entrants received gift cards ranging from $30 to $100 for their efforts.
Congratulations to the successful students from Melbourne ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Catholic Schools (ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ) schools who took out the majority of prizes in the 2023 competition:
Prep winners
Years 1–2 winners
Years 3–4 winners
Years 5–6 winners
In addition to those prizes, the following overall state competition winners were also announced:
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Werribee, was awarded the school prize and received $500 for a sustainable project at the school.
‘We were so excited to receive our $500 sustainability award, and plan on putting it towards extending our composting program and opening it up to school families’, said Elizabeth Rogers, Kitchen Garden teacher at the school. ‘The money will also go towards a native plant sharing project that will assist local schools to start their own bush tucker gardens.’
