24 March 2023

The 29th annual Top Arts exhibition has opened at the National Gallery of Victoria’s Ian Potter Centre and students from four Catholic schools have been invited to exhibit.

Top Arts 2023 is an exhibition that recognises the achievements of VCE students in 2022. The exhibition is part of the VCE Season of Excellence, a festival celebrating the achievements of VCE and VET students in design, technology, research, multimedia and cinematic, visual and performing arts. Congratulations to Amy Seymour from St Francis Catholic College, Melton, Bailey Florence from St Kevin’s College, Toorak, Kylah Ross from Salesian College, Sunbury, and Polly Hutchins from Padua College, Mornington, who have had their work selected.

In addition to exhibiting their work, the students get to share their thoughts and advice for current and future students. ‘Have an idea of what you’re going to produce in the end going into the start of the year’, wrote Amy. ‘Have a goal and understand what you want to achieve. Stick to that goal and, no matter what your work looks like, enjoy the process. The process is the most important part. Aim high and take advantage of the materials and resources you have at hand. Try new techniques and explore your abilities.’

Top Arts is open every day from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm until 9 July 2023. The online catalogue can be viewed on the National Gallery of Victoria’s .
