Primary school students worked with senior Science students from St John’s Regional College, Dandenong, as they conducted experiments as part of their curriculum programs.
Assisted by the college’s Science teacher, Anna Nguyen, along with several of the Year 9 and 10 students, students from St Mary’s School, Dandenong, and St Paul Apostle North School, Endeavour Hills, were led through a series of experiments to develop their scientific skills, particularly observation and analysis. The program offers St John’s students the opportunity to develop leadership skills as they work with younger students, exploring various topics. In this case, students were using microscopes to take a closer look at dirt and the organisms that are found in it.
‘Prior to COVID-19, our local primary schools were involved in a variety of curriculum programs at the college’, said Principal Tim Hogan, ‘so it was good to see them back and school life getting back to normal’.
