Full STEAM ahead in Oakleigh
20 July 2022
Construction has officially begun to transform the learning experience at Sacred Heart School, Oakleigh.
The Hon Steve Dimopoulos, Member for Oakleigh, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, and Minister for Creative Industries, joined Principal Brian Martin and members of the student leadership team for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially commence construction.
‘Every school student deserves the best facilities’, said Mr Dimopoulos. ‘We have some of the best teaching staff in the world, so we want to make sure the buildings match that teaching quality.’
Designed by Minx Architecture, the new spaces will feature a community hub and STEAM resource centre. Another part of the project is construction of new rooms and a playground for Foundation students. This will enable the students to be integrated into the main school, while still maintaining their own playground and learning area. The new rooms will provide a state-of-the-art learning area to benefit the Foundation students well into the future.
The $2.2 million project has been made possible with a $2 million grant from the Victorian Government.
