St Catherine of Siena blessed by Archbishop Peter
22 November 2021
It was a joyous occasion for the community of Armstrong Creek, on Friday as they gathered for the official opening and blessing of the school by Archbishop Peter A Comensoli.
Students, staff and parents, along with those involved in the development and construction of the school in the growth corridor south of Geelong, came together with principal Donna Bryce and parish priest Fr Linh Tran to mark the occasion.
In his blessing, Archbishop Peter dedicated the new campus to the education and wellbeing of the present and future students of St Catherine of Siena, and to their faith, hope and love.
‘May this be a place where students and teachers search for the wisdom that guides the Christian life, and strive wholeheartedly to stand by Christ as their teacher’, he said.
Under the leadership of Mrs Bryce, St Catherine of Siena has quickly established itself in the local community since beginning classes with 135 students in January 2020. The school now has more than 200 students enrolled in just the second year of operation.
The significant funding support for the new school provided by the Victorian Government through Member for South Barwon, Darren Cheeseman MP, was also acknowledged as part of the proceedings.
