Ainger Peck Public Speaking Award 2021
18 June 2021
Star of the Sea College, Brighton, Year 11 student Genevie recently won the Ainger Peck Public Speaking Award for 2021.
In her speech, Genevie talked about being judged on one’s appearance.
‘I was honoured to represent Star of the Sea and win first place in the Ainger Peck Public Speaking Award’, she said.
‘This opportunity allowed me to explore a topic of my interest (the importance of blind job interviews) and present my findings in a compelling and persuasive manner. Through this competition, I learnt how to apply feedback to improve the quality of my speech.’
Genevie is the second Star of the Sea College student to win since the competition began in 1990.
The Ainger Peck Public Speaking Award is an annual event run by Richmond Rotary in partnership with RC Melbourne Park to promote effective public speaking and to celebrate young people within the local community.
