Brothers Alessandro (Year 3) and Orlando (Prep) with their sculpture ‘A kiss goodnight’14 July 2021

Two students from St Paul’s School, Coburg, have won first prize in AGL’s Family Week sculpture competition.

Brothers Alessandro (Year 3) and Orlando (Prep) created their sculpture, ‘A kiss goodnight’, during the recent COVID-19 restrictions in Melbourne. The competition brief was to create a sculpture of a scene of your family using recycled items and things found around the house. The family scene could involve kicking a footy in the backyard, having dinner together or sitting on the couch watching a movie.

Alessandro and Orlando’s sculpture depicts a tree of love with a night sky and represents the family’s connections to each other. ‘Orlando had so much fun going through the recycle bin, cutting and painting, while Alessandro enjoyed sticking items on with the hot glue gun’, said the boys’ proud mum, Sofia.

The brothers received a $250 voucher for their efforts, along with certificates celebrating their special achievement. Well done, Alessandro and Orlando.
