The Olympic spirit was alive and well at St Paul’s School, Coburg, when staff and students held their own mini version of the games last week.

The games provided a great opportunity for the school’s Prep to Year 2 students to embrace the rich cultural and sporting experience of this event. Students and staff all dressed in their finest sporting outfits to celebrate the unity of the many countries and sports in their own Mini Olympics.

‘The Olympic Games have been an excellent opportunity for our younger students to demonstrate and refine their learning of the event, as well as celebrate its excitement and spirit’, said Principal Maria Mercuri. ‘They all demonstrated great sportsmanship and came dressed in the colours of the country they chose to represent.’

The Olympic flame made its way to the event to mark its official opening, which included the National Anthem and the St Paul’s Olympic oath. Students will continue the learning experience with the Paralympics later this month.
