Images from the 150th celebration of St Michael’s School, North MelbournePast and current teachers and students gathered to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of , North Melbourne.

 

The day began with Mass celebrated by Bishop Terry Curtin at St Michael’s Church. Assisted by choir from , North Melbourne, the Mass was an important way of bringing together the school with representatives from the Sisters of Mercy and the local parish community to mark the milestone.

 

St Michael’s first opened its doors in 1868, and in 1886 the Sisters of Mercy arrived from Geelong to lead education at the school. The school moved from its original site to its current location in 1918.

 

Following Mass, the school was open for former students to reminisce and look through the school’s extensive collection of photos, historical document and memorabilia.
