St Philip’s students turn life stories into biographies
18 October 2018
Grade 6 students from in Blackburn North took a trip back in time to produce biographies of elderly volunteers.
The students made weekly journeys to Nunawading’s Mountainview Cottage last term to meet with seniors and hear their life stories.
They then worked on creating a story book for their subject, using scanned photos and notes they had taken, before presenting the finished versions to the volunteers last week.
Year 5/6 teacher Gabe Kinsman said the cottage’s pilot program had been a great success.
‘There’s a list of people who want to have their life stories recorded,’ she said.
‘So hopefully we’ll be able to do it again next year.’
