Care is in the bag
28 June 2018
, Moorabbin, has brightened the day of some of Melbourne’s most vulnerable children.
Last month, grade 6 student Sapphire spoke about her initiative, working with the school and local businesses to create backpacks for homeless and vulnerable children. This week, the backpacks were presented to the St Vincent de Paul Society to distribute to people at need.
The generosity of the school community saw the creation of 85 backpacks filled with pyjamas, blankets and other essentials for cold Melbourne nights.
‘I thought about all the families struggling and how the children must feel. I wanted them to feel special and loved,’ said Sapphire at a Mass for the school with guests from the local community and representatives from the St Vincent de Paul Society.
