Interview on Sky News Australia
12 July 2018
The recommendations of the National School Resourcing Board review of SES scores has vindicated Catholic Education Melbourne’s opposition to the Turnbull Government’s school funding policies, Executive Director Stephen Elder said when he appeared on the Richo program on Sky News Australia on Tuesday.
‘Money wasn’t going to schools that were in need,’ Mr Elder said, condemning the Gonski 2.0 funding formulas.
Mr Elder said by favouring wealthy independent schools in his funding arrangements, Education Minister Simon Birmingham had put public schools, the Catholic sector and other low fees non-government schools offside with Gonski 2.0.
‘It takes real talent to do that,’ he told host Graham Richardson.
