National Science Week 2018 has begun with the theme ‘Game changers and change makers’.

National Science Week is a chance for the whole community to engage in science and explore some of the great questions of the world. The theme celebrates some great changes in our approach to science and coincides with the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, the 40th anniversary of the birth of the first ‘test tube’ baby, and the International Year of the Reef.

For schools, Science Week provides a focus for science in and out of the classroom. The following schools have received a Science Week grant to help them conduct a range of activities during the week:

  • , Coburg East  – setting up a sustainable garden
  • , Ashburton – how science can help people with a disability
  • , Dandenong– using VR to gain insight into STEM-related subjects.

The has published resources to help schools make the most of Science Week.
