St Francis Xavier's Inaugural Arts Festival
3 October 2017
School in Box Hill held its Inaugural Biennial Arts Festival on 14 September and it was a resounding success.
'We want to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for making the inaugural 2017 SFX Art Festival a very memorable evening. It was very pleasing to view all of the students’ artwork. Their enjoyment and achievements were displayed in their work. The efforts of the teachers should also be applauded. It was very evident that a lot of time and effort was put into making the night a success. Our children (along with us) were very proud of their school last night.'
Steven & Fiona Bainbridge (Parents)
The Festival with its Sea theme was a wonderful community event where the children’s visual and performing artistic talents were on display in the forms of art masterpieces, cake decorating, photography, singing, playing musical instruments, acting and film making. There were also buskers who raised money for charity.
'I thought the Art Show was a big hit. It certainly exceeded my expectations and I could see all of the hard work put in by the staff and students. Good job everyone.'
Simone Karpin (Parent)
A major part of the Festival was the blessing by Parish Priest, Father Tony Kerin, of amazing mosaic bollards made by the students, staff and parents of the school. These have been placed in various positions in the school grounds as a permanent reminder of the inaugural festival.
'It was lovely to see so many different kinds of art displayed. It wasn’t just a normal art show! It was wonderful to see community involvement, not just the children’s work.'
